Myofascial release and trigger point massage therapy (MFR)

MFR is a specialised treatment that releases restrictions within the connective tissue, enabling stuck, hardened and dehydrated areas to become soft and pliable. It re-introduces movement within the body, allowing a complete release all the way down to cellular level.

It starts with a gentle massage designed to warm and loosen muscles. This involves sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue, using a low load, gentle pressure, slowly applied, that allows the viscoelastic fascia to elongate. This releases the restrictions within the fascia.

It is a powerful treatment performed without oils or creams, to release tension from problem areas such as the neck, the diaphragm, lower back and pelvis. It works on the principle that many people hold stress in their muscles causing them to seize, tighten or lock. Injuries or scarring can exacerbate this. The purpose of MFR is to release and free up the muscles.

Regular Myofascial Release can improve posture, counter act muscle soreness, increase flexibility and help with a variety of conditions such as:

  • Arthritis and back pain
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Disc problems and frozen shoulder
  • Fibromyalgia and migraine
  • Neck and pelvic pain

  • Physical and psychological stress
